[edit]Is there a family relationship between Ike Skelton and Red Skelton? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.100.154.225 (talk) 17:04, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Highly Suspect
[edit]I have come to find that several contributors are from the U.S. House of Representatives (143.231.249.138), meaning that Ike or one in his employ has been embelleshing his article. Another IP comes from Headquarters, USAISC (134.240.241.3), also known as West Point which is also in suspect as Ike is chair of the Armed Services committee. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilikenwf (talk • contribs) 02:32, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
- Wait a minute, it's the "powerful" house armed services committee! Seriously, great sleuthing work! It is editors like you that make this encyclopedia a great one. CriticalChris 02:59, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
Remarried
[edit]A few months ago it was briefly mentioned on the local news that he remarried. The article should be updated, right? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.52.217.194 (talk) 19:09, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Voting with Democratic Leadership
[edit]I can't find a neutral, factual source to support his opponent's assertion that Skelton has "voted with Nancy Pelosi 95% of the time." Am going to replace with data from current Congress for now. Arbor832466 (talk) 14:24, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
- We have had this discussion before. It is better practice to edit an addition instead of simply completely removing an addition. I put back in his opponent's comment because I provided a reliable source to back up the opponent's statement and the opponent's claim seems to be fairly correct based upon the number that you added to the article. So I really do not see the reason on why you removed it lock, stock and barrel. It was a notable, reliable sourced addition that was written in NPOV manner. All that I changed in this version is that I named the opponent. But overall, I kept the former information because as your own work indicates Skelton's opponent's comments are right on the mark. You probably should have worked with my original edit instead of completely removing it. Skelton's opponent's number (95%) is statistically insignificant from the numbers that you found. Also, you added a personal claim by you that Skelton "making him one of the most conservative members of the Democratic Caucus." The source that you cited (Washington Post) does not state that claim. It is simply your personal opinion about Skelton's voting record. Please review Wikipedia:NPOV tutorial. In light of your lack of a source and it merely your opinion, I also removed your commentary to restore the NPOV tone that the article previously had.--InaMaka (talk) 23:31, 15 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for your interest in the Skelton article. I added some more info supported by the Washington Post source to give a point of reference to the voting with party leadership percentage. That statistic is based on every single vote that Congress takes, including procedural motions, naming of federal facilities, resolutions honoring individuals, teams and organizations, and many other bills that pass unanimously or nearly unanimously, so it can be misleading to a reader without a fairly detailed knowledge of Congressional procedure. In fact, a majority of both parties vote together approximately 50% of the time. Arbor832466 (talk) 15:09, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
